Overview

Synthetic heptapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is an analog of the naturally occurring immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin, with an additional Gly-Pro sequence that improves metabolic stability. Research has focused on its anxiolytic, nootropic, and immunomodulatory properties. Approved in Russia as a nasal spray medication for generalized anxiety disorder and neurasthenia. Mechanism involves GABAergic modulation via gene expression, serotonin metabolism modulation, BDNF upregulation, dopamine modulation, and immune modulation.
