Overview
Bombesin is a 14-amino acid peptide originally isolated from amphibian skin (Bombina bombina). Mammalian homologs include gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP) and neuromedin B (NMB). It binds to bombesin receptors (BB1, BB2, BRS-3), which are G-protein coupled receptors, stimulating phospholipase C and increasing intracellular calcium.
