Argireline (Acetyl Hexapeptide-3)

Argireline is a synthetic six-amino-acid peptide widely used in cosmetic skincare as a topical alternative to botulinum toxin injections. It works by partially blocking the nerve signaling pathway involved in muscle contractions, reducing the intensity of facial movements and softening expression lines around the eyes and forehead. It inhibits SNARE complex assembly to reduce acetylcholine release at neuromuscular junctions, relaxing facial muscles and reducing the appearance of dynamic wrinkles. It mimics the N-terminal of SNAP-25, competing with native SNAP-25 for binding in the SNARE complex, destabilizing the complex and reducing vesicle docking efficiency.
