Overview
Macimorelin (brand name Macrilen, also AEZS-130) is a peptidomimetic that mimics the hormone ghrelin. It binds the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (ghrelin receptor) on the anterior pituitary, provoking a burst of growth hormone into the blood. It is FDA approved as a diagnostic agent for adult growth hormone deficiency (AGHD), administered as a single oral dose followed by blood draws over 90 minutes to assess pituitary response.
