Overview

A synthetic hepcidin mimetic that controls iron availability by degrading the iron exporter ferroportin, limiting iron entry into the bloodstream. Being developed to manage polycythemia vera (PV), a blood cancer that causes overproduction of red blood cells, by starving the overactive marrow of iron. Reduces the need for repeated phlebotomy. Currently under FDA priority review with NDA submitted January 2026, holding Breakthrough Therapy, Orphan Drug, Fast Track, and Priority Review designations. Phase 3 VERIFY trial met primary and all key secondary endpoints.
